15 Selected Small Businesses and Two Schools in Huntington Beach to Participate in Environmental Sustainability Outreach Program, Provided by Village Green Global Inc., the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Business Entrepreneurship Center at Rancho Santiago CCD.
March 6, Huntington Beach - Village Green Global (VGG) will partner with the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce (HBCOC) and the Business & Entrepreneurship Center (BEC) at Rancho Santiago CCD, by providing a 12-month comprehensive outreach program for 15 small businesses, two local HB schools and two individuals who will become Eco Ambassadors. The program is designed to educate this selected group on Environmental Sustainability within their businesses and local community. The program will be launched March 19th.
VGG will provide their internationally recognized and award winning, community based outreach program and associated software, whose results are underpinned with the aid of SMARTweb™, a proprietary software platform for natural resource management and carbon foot printing. All participants will learn to identify ways to reduce energy costs, receive training on sustainable marketing and utility efficiencies as well as garner a holistic approach to running their businesses more efficiently.
“This is a significant step towards bringing environmental education and the business community together to address global environmental concerns locally,” said Doug Smith, CEO and Founder, Village Green Global Inc. “Our local communities are the hubs of our society and will now have the tools needed to enable cost savings and reduced energy consumption in the United States. Village Green Global is very excited by this partnership opportunity.”
The program will have the capability to monitor, aggregate, verify and validate various cost saving benefits as well as energy and emission carbon based offset credit opportunities. The businesses selected will enjoy a multitude of empowering benefits. Students will also have access to SMARTweb™ Res Lite to take learning’s from the classroom and apply them in their own homes.
“The BEC program is a network of Community College professionals working in strategic partnerships with business and the community to identify and meet California’s economic development needs in the areas of business improvements and entrepreneurship training,” said Maricela Sandoval, Director of the Business & Entrepreneurship Center , Rancho Community College District. “Specific attention is given to providing small business assistance and encouragement of youth entrepreneurship.”
The HBCOC has a newly formed Business Sustainable Action Committee which has been working hard to create new opportunities for Chamber members to save money and help the environment. A partnership with VGG and BEC is a first of its kind.
“The successful communities of tomorrow are those that today embrace partnerships between community stakeholders and their City,” said Jerry L. Wheeler, Sr. IOM, President/CEO, Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce. “It’s all about creating a climate where economic development in all shapes and sizes can help grow our economies while remaining respectful of dwindling natural resources and fragile ecosystems. Finding that balance between protecting our environment while continuing to allow economies to grow will be key.”
“This partnership with Village Green Global and the Business & Entrepreneurship Center is a great step in that direction,” said Wheeler. “Businesses will discover a new way of thinking about how they do business from an environmental perspective and we are excited to be a partner in launching this ground-breaking program,” Wheeler said.
Stay tuned for our next release in which we will reveal who the chosen 15 business and two schools are.
