RECOGNIZED SCHOOL LEADER APPOINTED TO ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT POSITION IN OCEAN VIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA, August 18, 2015 –The Board of Trustees, and newly appointed Superintendent Carol Hansen, announced this week that Jodee Brentlinger has been appointed Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services in the Ocean View School District.

Mrs. Brentlinger’s appointment concludes a rigorous selection process for the top three leadership positions. The Board appointed Dr. Hansen as the District’s Superintendent and Dr. Michael Conroy as Deputy Superintendent this summer. The three will join Mr. Felix Avila, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, to provide exemplary leadership for the Huntington Beach school system.

Mrs. Brentlinger has been a California educator for 27 years, serving as teacher, assistant principal, principal, education director, and assistant superintendent. Most of her experience was in the Capistrano Unified School District, where she began her career as an elementary school teacher. She holds a Master’s Degree in school administration from Pepperdine University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in liberal studies from San Diego State University.

Dr. Hansen described Mrs. Brentlinger as the “perfect match” for the leadership needs of the Ocean View School District at an important time in the District’s history. “We have an exciting opportunity to enhance the excellent instructional program of our schools, through the collective work of all staff members, with the leadership of Dr. Conroy, Mr. Avila and Mrs. Brentlinger,” she said.

Mrs. Brentlinger said she sought the Ocean View position for the opportunity to work with Dr. Hansen, and to help the District maximize the “incredible potential of its students.”

Individuals familiar with Mrs. Brentlinger’s work also describe her as an ideal match for instructional leadership of Ocean View schools. “Jodee is the right match for the Ocean View School District because she can build and support teams, while fostering meaningful, and professional, relationships with everyone in the school community,” said Kathy Kessler, retired superintendent of the Huntington Beach City School District.

Sheri Loewenstein, former Cypress and Westminster superintendent, also called Mrs. Brentlinger a “true leader, collaborator and team builder who develops strong collaborative relationships built on trust.”
