OCEAN VIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT RECEIVES STATE AWARD

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA, October 9, 2015 – At the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Personnel Institute 2015 in Irvine, Dr. Carol Hansen was presented with the prestigious Ray Curry Award, ACSA’s annual award for excellence in Personnel Administration. Dr. Hansen, named the Superintendent of Ocean View School District in Huntington Beach this past summer, previously worked in personnel administration for public schools for more than a decade. Just prior to joining OVSD, Dr. Hansen served as the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources in the ABC Unified School District in Cerritos where she served as the chief negotiator for ABCUSD. She is a native Californian with more than 30 years of public education experience.

ACSA Executive Director, Wes Smith, introduced Dr. Hansen’s award with enthusiasm, saying, “Dr. Hansen is a generous, dedicated, well-regarded leader, on both the local and statewide levels. In my professional experiences with Dr. Hansen, she has always shown a strong commitment to working collaboratively with ACSA staff and the Human Resources’ Council to provide quality professional development that best meets the current needs of ACSA members.”

“The Ray Curry Award is very special to me. It is truly an honor to be named this year’s recipient,” said Dr. Hansen. “Ray Curry was not only dedicated to public education and ACSA’s success, he was also highly esteemed as a personnel administrator and supporter of quality professional development for human resources’ administrators. Providing professional development and networking opportunities for ACSA human resources’ administrators has been important work for me, therefore, receiving an award named for Mr. Curry is something I will always cherish.”

Dr. Hansen served for three years as the President of the Association of California School Administrators’ (ACSA) State Human Resource Council, and in 2011 she was named ACSA’s State Administrator of the Year for Human Resources.
