                                    Huntington Beach Storytellers Compete

Thursday, December 3rd, four locals will take to the stage at the Huntington Beach Art Center to compete for the final title “Huntington Beach’s Greatest Storyteller.” This friendly competition is in its final round, featuring the best true stories of the year. The audience will vote for the winner, who along with bragging rights, wins $50.

Although six tellers were winners, because two of the finalists were not available on this date the show has been augmented with three (non-competing) Guest Storytellers: Surf icon-legend, Jericho Poppler; Dr. Bob Slay, winner of this year’s Long Beach Searches for Greatest Storyteller; and Oscar-winning songwriter, Paul Williams.

“From 7 to 9 p.m., we hear true, six-minute tales of OMG, defining, or hilarious moments in people’s lives,” says producer, Mariana Williams. “First off, true tales by the locals who are finalists and the audience will cast their secret ballot. After intermission we are treated to true stories by our guests. Then, the audience vote will be revealed, “Huntington Beach’s Greatest Storyteller” will be announced, and we are all out the door in two hours; entertainment without the internet!”

The local story tellers are: Diane Estrada, Tiffany Fortier, Chad McCann and Jean Marie Valdine.

Thurs., Dec.3, 2015, 7-9 p.m., “Huntington Beach Searches for Greatest Storyteller,” Huntington Beach Art Center, 358 Main St., Huntington Beach, CA. $6 at door. In advance at Brown Paper Tickets.com. (type in event.)
