NEWLY EXPANDED HOAG HEALTH CENTER HUNTINGTON BEACH OPENS URGENT CARE

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – August 5, 2014 – Sometimes HB needs a little TLC: From surfers getting injured at the break of dawn to young parents caring for a sick child late at night to active seniors taking a spill on the weekend, Huntington Beach is a community that is constantly on the move – and it has the stitches to prove it.

That is why Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach today announced the opening of Hoag Urgent Care – Huntington Beach. Staffed by Hoag Medical Group doctors, Hoag Urgent Care – Huntington Beach operates seven-days a week, after hours and on weekends to attend to all the sprains, fevers, and non-life-threatening medical situations that arise in a city known for high-energy and active lifestyles.

“It is important to recognize that not all medical situations require an Emergency Room visit – but some issues simply can’t wait until your primary care doctor can see you,” said Robert Braithwaite, president and CEO of Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. “Should you get injured playing softball or have a cough that’s keeping you up, you have a place to go in your own community to serve your needs.”

Hoag Urgent Care – Huntington Beach is accessible from a separate entrance at the newly expanded Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach, which opened in April. With a total of 100,000 square-feet of diagnostic, treatment and imaging space, Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach doubled in size to give local residents access to same-day appointments at Hoag Medical Group, enhanced diagnostic and imaging care and extended women’s health care.

The robust roster of physicians at the center consists of Hoag Medical Group doctors with specialties in internal medicine, pediatrics, family medicine, rheumatology, and endocrinology, as well as numerous specialists, including gastroenterologists, obstetricians and gynecologists, orthopedists, oncologists, urologists, dermatologist, endocrinologists, pulmonologists and rheumatologists. Residents also have convenient access to the Hoag Imaging Center, as well as breast imaging, laboratory and pharmaceutical services.

The center is conceived as a “one stop shop” for health care, with a design that offers both convenience and an enhanced continuity of care and communication among specialists to help individuals take better control of their health.

“Introducing Hoag Urgent Care right on site builds upon our commitment to give residents of Huntington Beach high quality care close to home,” said Cynthia Perazzo, senior vice president, strategy and business development of Hoag. “This is why we expanded our health center, to create convenient access to the best care.”

Hoag Urgent Care – Huntington Beach is one of six urgent care facilities Hoag operates throughout Orange County, including Anaheim Hills, Huntington Harbour, Newport Beach, Orange and Tustin. Early next year, Hoag will also open urgent care facilities in Irvine and Aliso Viejo.

Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach and Hoag Urgent Care – Huntington Beach are located at 19582 Beach Blvd., Huntington Beach. The urgent care is open from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call 1-800-400-4624.
