GENEROUS $30K BOOK, CASH DONATION FOR HOPE VIEW STUDENTS
IN HUNTINGTON BEACH FROM CITY NATIONAL BANK, BARNES & NOBLE
Tomorrow at 8 a.m. the School Will Be the Recipient of “Reading Is the Way Up” Donation

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA, September 22, 2015 –Students and teachers at Hope View Elementary School are about to receive more than $30K in new books and cash at tomorrow morning’s Flag Assembly from 8 to 8:20 a.m. City National Bank and Barnes & Noble representatives will be at the school to hand over hundreds of new books and a check in matching funds to Hope View Principal Carrie Haskin in front of students, staff and parents at the school-wide ceremony.

“We were thrilled to find out about the generous donation in support of our school and our literacy goals,” said Haskin. “We are focused on student learning and success, and reading is the basis for all learning. This is the perfect way to kick off the school year! We appreciate the support of both entities.”

Hope View recently started the 2015-2016 school year with a Grand Reopening Ceremony. Last October, the Ocean View School District was forced to close the school when a trace amount of asbestos was detected during the school’s re-modernization project. The resulting reconstruction of the main building and modernization projects were completed over the summer, allowing all students and staff to return for the first day of school.

City National’s “Reading Is the Way Up” Literacy Program started in 2002. Since its inception, the bank has donated more than 300,000 new books to schools and nonprofit groups and over $1 million in grants to teachers in states across the United States.

The ceremony will take place promptly at 8:00 a.m. at Hope View, which is located at 17622 Flintstone Lane in Huntington Beach. The school is part of the Ocean View School District.
