The Academy for the Performing Arts
Music Media and Entertainment Technology department will take you in a time machine with their annual favorite, Retrofest. What was it like playing New Wave or Punk in the LA Clubs during the late 70's / early 80's
Well, you'd be sharing the same small stages with bands you knew and loved. You'd be lugging heavy gear up and down staircases, packing the van in smelly alleyways, and rocking crowds of teenagers with strange haircuts and stranger fashion. New Wave, New Romantic, Punk, Rock, you name it. Named after the infamous Chinatown rock club, this year's Retrofest will give insight into the times, the music, and the people of an interesting era.
Showtime is 7:30 p.m. nightly with an additional matinee performance on
