Bill Shumard has served as CEO of Special Olympics Southern California since June 2005. Under Bills’ leadership, SOSC is now recognized as a premier program in a world-wide movement that serves nearly 5 million athletes in over 180 countries. SOSC is served by 65 full time employees and 15,000 volunteers covering 11 counties from San Diego to San Luis Obispo with a $17 million dollar budget.
Prior to coming to the Special Olympics, Bill has enjoyed a long and professional career in sports management with professional and collegiate teams such as CSULB (Cal State University Long Beach), USC (University of Southern California), Cal State Fullerton, and served 12 years with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization through a period of unparalleled business success, a world championship and 3 World Series.
Bill lives in Brea, CA with his wife Kim and have 3 grown sons and 4 grandchildren.
